Human Angle Initiative

Building Pathways to Safety, Stability, and Belonging

We are committed to supporting African refugees and asylum seekers as they rebuild their lives with dignity, safety, and opportunity. Through temporary housing support, early settlement navigation, and community integration services. We help individuals and families transition from crisis and uncertainty toward stability and independence.

THE CHALLENGE

The Critical First Months

Every year, African refugees arrive in Canada seeking protection and a fresh start. While Canada offers safety and opportunity, the first weeks and months after arrival are often the most challenging. Many newcomers face immediate housing instability, unfamiliar systems, limited social support, and financial uncertainty.

Human Angle Initiative exists to ensure that no African refugee faces this critical transition period alone.

OUR PURPOSE

Early Support Changes Long-Term Outcomes

Access to safe housing, reliable information, and community connection during early resettlement significantly improves long-term integration, employment success, and overall well-being. Our programs are designed to provide stability during the most vulnerable period of the resettlement journey.

WHAT WE DO

Our Core Services

We address the most pressing needs African refugees face during their critical first months of
settlement.

Temporary Housing Support
We help newly arrived refugees access safe, temporary housing options while they search for long-term accommodation. Housing stability is the foundation for successful settlement, and we work to reduce the risk of housing insecurity during early resettlement.
Settlement Navigation Support
We help refugees understand and access essential systems such as healthcare, education, community services, and settlement resources. Navigating these systems can be overwhelming for newcomers, and we provide guidance to help make the transition smoother.
Community Integration Support
We help refugees build social connections and community support networks that are essential for long-term stability and success. Social connection reduces isolation and helps newcomers feel welcomed and supported.
WHY IT MATTERS

The Reality of Refugee Settlement

Refugees often arrive after experiencing displacement, instability, and major life disruption. Without early support, these challenges can create long-term barriers.
